Wampler’s Farm Sausage – Biomass Gasification to Energy System
The Story of Sustainability at Wampler’s Farm Sausage
FROM OUR FIRST SMALL SOLAR PROJECT TO OUR [BIOMASS] SYSTEM AND ENERGY INDEPENDENCE, HARVEY HAS BEEN OUR PARTNER EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. HARVEY AND HIS TEAM HAVE MADE WHAT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE, POSSIBLE. HE HAS BEEN THE PERSON THAT BROUGHT US OUR BEST PROJECTS AFTER HE WON OUR FIRST LOOK INTO GREEN ENERGY. NOW, HARVEY HAS BECOME THE FIRST PERSON WE GO TO ON ANY ENERGY PROJECT WE EVEN CONSIDER.Ted Wampler Jr
Wampler’s Farm Sausage has served as a staple in the south for generations, and the company continues to push limits and impress through efforts to become energy independent. ARiES Solar is proud to represent Proton Power, Inc. (PPI) and serve as the first integrator of a biomass-to-energy gasification system. This is the first commercial application of a Proton Power, Inc. CHyP gasification system in the world. This project uses locally-grown switchgrass as a feedstock to produce megawatts of power from the hydrogen on-demand system. The PPI CHyP System is suplimented by the 530kW of solar photovoltaic panels installed in 2009 and 2011. Wampler’s Farm Sausage will raise the bar for all by becoming net-zero grid-connected; producing clean renewable energy providing all of their base electrical needs. The company continues to act as a role model for the business community and nation with its continued efforts in Energy Independence, Economic Development and Environmental Stewardship.
The installation includes:
- A series of CHyP Engines, integrated into a fully automated system. Each individual CHyP Engine in the system can produce enough Hydrogen Gas to generate 500kW
- The CHyP units are paired with a series of 375kW gensets that provide power directly to the sausage manufacturing facility
ARiES Solar is proud to have sold the first commercial Proton Power, Inc. CHyP system in the world at Wampler’s Farm Sausage. Proton Power, Inc. (PPI) has developed a patented renewable energy system that produces inexpensive hydrogen on demand from biomassand waste sources. This technology, referred to as Cellulose to Hydrogen Power (CHyP), is ideal for clean energy applications such as distributed or central-station electrical power generation, hydrogen production or producing synthetic fuels such as renewable gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel.
