Organized in 1973, the East Tennessee Economic Council (ETEC) is an independent, regional, non-profit membership organization dedicated to supporting the federal government’s missions in Oak Ridge as well as encouraging new opportunities to fully utilize the highly-skilled talent, cutting-edge technologies and unique facilities that make up the federal reservation. ETEC works in strong partnership with federal contractors, Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration representatives, state officials, small businesses, and other local economic development organizations to seek new ways to use federal investments in science and security to create prosperity, promote regional development, and explore opportunities for growth. Ted Wampler, Jr., is President and COO of Wampler’s Farm Sausage Company. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Tennessee Tech University, 1980. Ted, Jr. serves on the Tennessee Advisory Board of Directors of United Community Bank. Ted, Jr. was, in 2012, the first recipient of the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Person of the Year Award which recognized the efforts made toward using more sustainable energy alternatives at the company. (December 18, 2013) — The Tennessee Solar Energy Industries Association (TennesSEIA) today announced its new Board of Directors and Officers to lead the organization. At the Annual Meeting held in Nashville on November 20, 2013, new Directors were elected to the Board. These Directors include Keith Gordon of Vis Solis (Franklin), Bill Houston of Sharp Electronics (Memphis), Nick Safay of Ecological Energy Systems (Bristol), and Ed Zubko of Green Earth Solar (Knoxville). The four will join the eleven-member Board of Directors including representatives from solar installers, law firms, consultants and manufacturers throughout Tennessee. The Board voted on the Executive Committee at the December Board Meeting. The results include Mary Shaffer Gill of ARiES Solar serving as President, Steve Johnson as Vice President, John Nevel of The Boro Group to serve as Treasurer and Ron Merville of Energy Source Partners to serve as Secretary of TenneSEIA. Since TenneSEIA’s inauguration in 2010, Gil Melear-Hough has served as President of TenneSEIA. “Gil has done a tremendous job as President of our association for the past three years.
